I. Overview of the Specialty

The Breastfeeding Specialty Clinic of the First Affiliated Hospital of University of South China was established in 2018. Integrating clinical care, teaching, research,rehabilitation guidance, the clinic is dedicated to breastfeeding consultationguidance. It is the first breastfeeding nursing specialty clinic in Hengyang. Consultations are provided by International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC)breastfeeding instructors certified by the Ministry of Human ResourcesSocial Security of the Peoples Republic of China.

III. Scope of Services

(I) Breastfeeding ConsultationGuidance

1. Breast care during pregnancyafter lactation cessation.

2. Guidance on milk expression during mother-infant separation, as well as breast milk storageusage.

3. Dietary, rest,exercise counseling for breastfeeding mothers.

4. “Trinity” breastfeeding guidance.

5. One-on-one development of personalized breastfeeding plansparenting guidance.

6. Science-based and natural weaning guidance.

(II) Breastfeeding Guidance in Special Circumstances

1. Breastfeeding support for newborns with illnesses such as prematurity, diarrhea, eczema, lactose intolerance, breast milk jaundice, cleft lippalate,neonatal gastroesophageal reflux.

2. Breastfeeding guidance for mothers with illnesses including chronic diseases, infectious diseases,other infections.

3. Breastfeeding support for breast-related conditions such as nipple crackingpain, nipple confusion, mastitis, breast abscess, blocked milk ducts,nipple white spots (milk blebs).

(III) Breast Massage, Lactation Stimulation, Milk Supply Enhancement,Lactation Suppression

1. Point-press painless breast massage for duct clearance.

2. Management of milk stasis, mastitis, breast cysts,breast abscesses.

3. Safegentle manual techniques for lactation suppression.

4. Personalized milk supply enhancement, including stimulation of lactationre-lactation after weaning.
