Our hospital has been involved in clinical medical education since 1962. After renaming as the First Affiliated Hospital of Hengyang Medical College in 1983, we formally established a teaching administration unit — Medical Education Division. In 2000, it was renamed as the Teaching Affairs Office of the First Affiliated Hospital/First Clinical College of University of South China. The Clinical Skills Training Center was established in 2011, followed by the Center for Clinical TeachingResearch in 2017. In 2018, the Department of EducationTraining was established integrating the Clinical Teaching Office, Residency Training Office, Continuing Education Office, Clinical Skills Center, Clinical TeachingResearch Center,Library. The department oversees 23 teachingresearch sections, 23 accredited standardized residency training programs, 1 standardized training base for subspecialty, multiple information-based smart classrooms,a physicalelectronic library with complete facilities, housing over 350,000 volumes of printedelectronic books.

To date, we have been approved as a National “Great IdeologicalPolitical Course” PracticeTeaching Base, a National First-Class Undergraduate Program (Medical Laboratory Technology), a National Clinical TeachingTraining Demonstration Center (one of three in Hunan Province), a National Key Accredited Residency Training Program (Anesthesiology), a National Standardized Residency Training, a Laparoscopic Surgeon Training Base authorized by the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, a National Accredited Standardized Subspecialty Training Base (General Surgery), a Hunan Provincial First-Class Program (Medical Imaging),an Outstanding TrainingAssessment Base for Standardized Residency Training in Hunan Province.
