After months of extensive research, learning from others experiencecommunicationcoordination, the First Affiliated Hospital of University of South China held the launching ceremony of tumor sub-specialties on February 28.

The Department of Oncology is subdividedfour sub-specialties according to the location, namely head, neck,pelvic tumors, thoracic tumors, abdominal tumors (including interventional therapy),breast lymphoma. Professor Wu Gang fromHospital Affiliated to Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of ScienceTechnology, a top medical talent with a background in a double first-class discipline, was appointed as Honorary Director of the discipline.

At the beginning of the meeting, Professor Wu Gang, Honorary Director of the Discipline, congratulated the official operation of the tumor sub-specialtiesput forward planssuggestions for their high-quality development. He emphasized the importance of ongoing engagementcollaboration with the tumor sub-specialty team atHospital,advocated for in-depth exchanges across clinical practice, scientific research, management,talent cultivation. His vision was to enhance quality through precise approaches, ensure safety via standardized procedures, improve efficiency through integrated strategies,overcome challenges with innovative thinking—ultimately achieving scientific, rational, standardized,comprehensive treatment for tumor patients. Next, Ai Xiaohong, Executive Director of the Discipline, made a comprehensive deployment regarding staffing arrangements for medical, nursing,technical personnel in each sub-specialty, as well as departmental rulesregulations. At the launching ceremony, the heads of various functional departments such as the Party Affairs Department, the Medical Administration Department, the Hospital Affairs Department,the Nursing Department all expressed their full support for the development of the oncology disciplinethe construction of its sub-specialties in areas such as Party building, collaboration in medical treatment, teaching,research,integration of medicinenursing.

Zu Xuyu, Secretary of the Party Committee of the First Affiliated Hospital of University of South China, highlighted the need for all medical staff in the Department of Oncology to remember their original mission,emphasized that "Putting Patients First" must be the sole guiding principlephilosophy for the disciplines development. He encouraged the department to take the provincial key specialty as a new starting point, pursue connotative development,evolvea research-oriented discipline. Moreover, he called for unitydedication among staff to deliver more professionalscientific diagnosistreatment for tumor patients.

Embarking on a new journey, the Department of Oncology will actively advance the development of sub-specialties, strive to establish a distinguished brand, further "deepen, refine, strengthen,elaborate on" its specialty focus,give full play to its core treatment capabilities as a regional oncology medical center. With better technologiesservices, it will benefit more tumor patientscontribute to Healthy China 2030.
