In September 2023, the Clinical Guidelines for DiagnosisTreatment of Dry Eye, edited by Liu Zuguo, the presidentprofessor of the First Affiliated Hospital of University of South China, was officially published. Dry eye, a prevalent ophthalmic condition second only to refractive errors, affects over 300 million individuals in China, making it a leading cause of outpatient visits in ophthalmology. While mild to moderate dry eye primarily impacts patients quality of lifework efficiency, severe cases can lead to visual impairmenteven blindness.improve the clinical diagnosistreatment level of dry eye in China, the Ophthalmologists Branch of Chinese Medical Doctor Association commissioned Professor Liu Zuguo in 2020 to lead over 70 eminent ophthalmologists in the field to compile the Clinical Guidelines for DiagnosisTreatment of Dry Eye, which is the first guideline in the field of dry eye in China. This comprehensive guideline, comprising nearly 300,000 wordsinvolving over 100 contributors, underwent rigorous reviewrevision over almost two years before its final publication. The publication of this book will provide standards for the clinical diagnosis, treatmentprevention of dry eye in China,promote the science-based, standardized,regulated clinical diagnosistreatment of dry eye in China.
