Recently, the Health Commission of Hunan Provincethe Hunan Provincial Department of Finance jointly issued the Notice on Issuing the List of ConstructionCultivation Organizations of Demonstration Hospitals for High-Quality Development of Public Hospitals in Hunan Province. The notice identifies the provincial public hospitals selected as constructioncultivation organizations for this initiative, with the First Affiliated Hospital of University of South China selected as a construction organization.

In recent years, the hospital has adhered to the path of intensive development, centered on peoples health, with talent introductioncultivation, technological innovation,qualitysafety as its core. It has focused on the construction of disciplinary capabilities, strengthened the performance evaluation of public hospitals,comprehensively improved service capabilities, achieving a series of development results. It has successively been approved as a national project to improve the diagnosistreatment capabilities of difficultcomplex cardiovascular diseases (113 hospitals nationwide), a joint construction organization of the National Cardiovascular Regional Medical Center, a National Advanced Stroke Center, a National Chest Pain Center, a National Heart Failure Center, a National Atrial Fibrillation Center, a National Standardized Cardiac Rehabilitation Center, a National Regional Major Epidemic Treatment Base, a National Clinical Key Specialty Construction Organization, a National Clinical TeachingTraining Demonstration Center (74 centers nationwide), a National "Great IdeologicalPolitical Course" Practice Teaching Base, a National First-Class Undergraduate Major Construction Point, a Chinese Laboratory Medicine Training Project Training Base (64 bases nationwide), a National Postdoctoral Research Workstation, a core member of the National Clinical Research Center for Metabolic Diseases,the Hunan Provincial Branch of the National Clinical Research Center for Ocular Diseases,the Hunan Provincial Key Laboratory of Multi-omicsArtificial Intelligence of Cardiovascular Diseases. It has built seven top 100 specialties in the country, including thoraciccardiovascular surgery, orthopedics, nephrology, plastic surgery, endocrinology, hepatobiliary surgery,emergency medicine. The hospital ranks 120th in the national public hospital performance evaluation, with an A+ rating. The annual outpatientemergency visits are about 1.8 million, the annual number of discharges is approximately 100,000,the annual number of surgeries stands at around 35,000. The scope of medical services covers central, southern,eastern regions of Hunan,extends to western Hunan, northern Guangdong, northern Guangxi,western Jiangxi, serving a population of over 60 million.
