Recently, the Stroke PreventionTreatment Project Committee of the National Health Commission issued a letter of commendation titled "Commendation for Advanced OrganizationsIndividuals in the 2021 Stroke High-Risk Population ScreeningIntervention Program". The First Affiliated Hospital of University of South China was awarded the honorary title of "Advanced Organization in the Stroke High-Risk Population ScreeningIntervention Program" nationwide for its outstanding contributions to stroke screeningprevention.

Since becoming a stroke screeningprevention base hospital in 2013, the hospital has continuously improved its "pre-hospital, in-hospital,post-hospital" workflow, streamlined key processes,established a multidisciplinary stroke treatment team. Closely integrating with the hierarchical diagnosistreatment system, it has actively promoted the development of the regional preventiontreatment network system,vigorously carried out various forms of national health education initiatives, which have been recognized by national authorities on multiple occasions. These efforts have achieved measurable progress in reducing stroke incidence, recurrence,disability rates.

Stroke, also known as "apoplexy", is characterized by high incidence, high recurrence rate, high disability rate,high mortality. In China, stroke occurrence is increasing at a rate of 8.7% per year,is trending towards a younger demographic. It has become the leading cause of death among the Chinese people. The National Health Commission has listed stroke screeningprevention as a major national health promotion project in Chinaincorporated itmajor special projects of national medical reform. By selecting powerful tertiary general hospitals nationwide as base hospitalscandidate base hospitals, this people-oriented project that benefits both the nationits citizens is comprehensivelysteadily promoted.

In the stroke screeningintervention project work in 2021, the First Affiliated Hospital of University of South China executed a total of 6,000 screening assignments, including 4,000 cases outside the hospital2,000 cases within the hospital. In the 4,000 cases of out-of-hospital screening, dedicated teams established health profiles for the screened population, investigated various relevant physical indicators,implemented "individualized prescription protocols", effectively reducing the incidence of stroke. In the 2,000 cases of in-hospital screening, the department directors, doctors,brainheart health managers participated in data reportingfollow-up work. Through telephone follow-ups, outpatient follow-ups,home visits, they addressed the difficult problems faced by patients after discharge, greatly improving patient complianceachieving primary, secondary,tertiary prevention. During this process, the coordinationrigor of early publicitymobilization, epidemiological investigation, on-site screeningfollow-up,quality control in each of these stages ensured the overall completion rate of the projectthe quality of intervention.

The relevant person in charge of the hospital affirmed that the First Affiliated Hospital of University of South China will continue to advance proactive prevention, leverage health educationawareness campaigns to improve public health literacy, promote hierarchical diagnosistreatment starting from chronic disease management, create integrated multidisciplinary care models,utilize big data to enhance service capabilities. With these efforts, the hospital will strengthen control of stroke risk factors, accelerate the transition from disease treatment to health management,achieve full-cycle management of chronic disease preventiontreatment at an early date.
