Recently, the National "Second Session of the Second Expert Committee Working Meeting of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Quality of Care Center (IBDQCC)the Sixth Academic Annual Conference of IBD DiagnosisTreatment Quality Control", hosted by the China Health Promotion Foundation, the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Group of the Chinese Society of Gastroenterology of Chinese Medical Association,the IBDQCC, was held in Guangzhou. After strict review procedures at all levels, the Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) DiagnosisTreatment Center of the Department of Gastroenterology of the First Affiliated Hospital of University of South China was successfully recognized as a national regional center for the diagnosistreatment of IBD, marking its entrythe top tier of IBD diagnosistreatment nationwide.

The IBDQCC is a national professional academic quality control center sponsored by the China Health Promotion Foundationco-organized by the Chinese Society of Gastroenterology of Chinese Medical Associationthe Inflammatory Bowel Disease Group. It is composed of more than 30 leading experts in the IBD Group in China, such as Chen Minhu, Director of the Chinese Society of Gastroenterology of Chinese Medical Association,Qian Jiaming, Deputy Director of the Chinese Society of Gastroenterology of Chinese Medical Association.
IBDQCC aligns with the latest consensus guidelines of international IBD research organizations, responsible for formulating Chinas IBD quality standardsclinical guidelines. Its goal is to promote the hierarchical diagnosistreatment of IBDimprove the standardized diagnosis, treatment,quality control management level of IBD. Since its establishment in 2017, IBDQCC has evaluated nearly 200 IBD diagnosistreatment centers across the country, adhering to the principles of promoting development, improvement, management,enhancement through evaluation. Currently, 97 regional diagnosistreatment centers have been selected.
IBD,inflammatory bowel disease, includes Crohns disease (CD)ulcerative colitis (UC),predominantly affects young adults aged 20-35. It is also called "green cancer" due to lacking a diagnostic "gold standard", its intractableincurable nature which often necessitates lifelong therapy,severe impairment of patients quality of life.
The Department of Gastroenterology of the First Affiliated Hospital of University of South China has complete IBD-related treatment drugstechnologies such as small bowel endoscopysmall bowel CTE. Since 2010, it has been committed to the clinicalbasic research of IBD. Since 2014, it has opened an IBD specialized outpatient clinicestablished a multidisciplinary team (MDT) for IBD led by the Department of Gastroenterology, including experts from the departments of imaging, pathology, nutrition,gastrointestinal surgery. Through regular multidisciplinary discussions on difficult cases, the establishment of an IBD patient group,the organization of rich health education activities, it has established a good reputation among patients.
In 2023, the hospital, as the chair unit, took the lead in establishing the Hengyang Regional Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Specialist Collaboration Alliance. Currently, it has 15 specialized beds for IBD, with 6,132 outpatient visits for IBD per yearmore than 351 inpatient visits per year, making it the largest IBD diagnosistreatment center in southern Hunan.
The recognition as the regional diagnosistreatment center of IBDQCC will further improve the scientific, standardized, refined,individualized diagnosistreatment level of IBD in the Department of Gastroenterology of this hospital, helping patients achieve self-management of chronic diseases,improving the overall quality of life of patients. At the same time, a higher diagnosistreatment levelmore precise treatment plans will also benefit more IBD patients.
