On January 6, the Unveiling Ceremony for Hengyangs Key Discipline Laboratories by AcademiciansExperts (2023) was held at the First Affiliated Hospital of University of South China. The event was attended by Liu Zhonghua, Alternate Member of the CPC Central CommitteeAcademician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Zhu Chunguang, Deputy Mayor of Hengyang, Chen Miao, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC Hengyang Municipal CommitteeDirector of the Hengyang Municipal Medical Security Administration,Xia Kun, Vice President of University of South China. They jointly inaugurated the Liu Zuguo Key Laboratory of Ophthalmologythe Zu Xuyu Key Laboratory of Cancer PreventionTreatmentTargeted Drugs.

The newly established Liu Zuguo Key Laboratory of Ophthalmology serves as a professional research institution integrating clinicalbasic ophthalmic research, talent cultivation,the development of new ophthalmic technologiesproducts. It functions as the research base for both the Hunan Provincial Clinical Medical Research Center for Dry Eyethe Hunan Branch of the National Clinical Medical Research Center for Dry Eye. The Zu Xuyu Key Laboratory of Cancer PreventionTreatmentTargeted Drugs is a research base for the First Affiliated Hospital of University of South China to carry out research on the pathogenesistranslational studies of tumor diseases,it also serves as a research platform of Hunan Province Key Laboratory of Tumor CellularMolecular Pathology. In recent years, the core teams of the two key laboratories have presided over more than 10 national-level key projects, published over 100 SCI-indexed papers,received multiple provincial-level awards including the ScienceTechnology Progress Award, Natural Science Award,Medical ScienceTechnology Award.

Moving forward, the hospital will continue strengthening its medical talent development, enhance scientific research team building,meticulously advance the development of key laboratories of key disciplines.
