The concept of the da Vinci robot was originally inspired by a humanoid mechanical design created by Leonardo da Vinci around 1495. The da Vinci Surgical System is an advanced robotic platform designed to perform complex surgical procedures using a minimally invasive approach. The hospital has introduced the world’s most advanced fourth-generation da Vinci/Xi surgical robot.
Indications:
The da Vinci system is applicable to clinical surgical procedures in general surgery, urology, gynecology, cardiothoracic surgery, pediatric surgery.
Technical Advantages:
The system provides a high-definition, three-dimensional view that offers surgeons an exceptionally clear surgical field. It features tremor filtration for enhanced operative stability, its robotic arms possess seven degrees of freedom540-degree rotation, surpassing the range of motion of the human wrist. Known as the “crown jewel” of modern surgery, the da Vinci Surgical Robot is widely recognized as a powerful tool for performing complexhigh-difficulty operations.
Implementation at the Hospital:
On December 6, 2019, the hospital introduced the only fourth-generation da Vinci/Xi robot in southern Hunanthe second in the entire Hunan province, marking our entrythe era of intelligentprecise robotic surgery. The Da Vinci’s system is now actively utilized in our departments of gastrointestinal surgery, hepatobiliary surgery, gynecology, urology, cardiothoracic surgery, breastthyroid surgery. The hospital has successfully performed the first fourth-generation da Vinci robot-assisted radical gastrectomyradical resection of rectal cancer in Hunan Province, as well as lobectomymediastinal tumor resection. We have also completed the first Whipple procedure, radical hepatectomy, total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, adrenal tumor resection, pulmonary lobectomy for lung cancer, breastthyroid tumor resection in southern Hunan. Currently, all major surgical specialties in the hospital are capable of performing robotic-assisted procedures.
