The textbook “Clinical Practice Teaching Tutorial for Medical Students”, edited by the clinical practice teaching team led by Prof. Tang Huifang, was honored as an excellent postgraduate textbook in Hunan Province.

Recently, the Hunan Provincial Department of Education announced the list of excellent demonstration postgraduate courses, excellent textbooks,excellent cases for 2022. The Textbook on Clinical Practical Teaching for Medical Students edited by Professor Tang Huifang’s clinical practical teaching team of our hospital was recognized as an excellent postgraduate textbook in Hunan Province.

The Textbook on Clinical Practical Teaching for Medical Students offers a comprehensive integration of basicclinical knowledge. Through a progressive approach that includes professional content, situational case studies,team-based simulations, it places a strong emphasis on developing clinical competencies while deeply embedding the principles of medical humanities. The tutorial seamlessly blends knowledge transmission, skill development,value cultivationa cohesive learning experience. Its structure is both innovativesystematic, with a well-organized content frameworka wealth of diverse course resources designed to meet the varied-learning needs of students. Compiled by a team with extensive hands-on experience, the tutorial reflects optimizedintegrated subject content, supported by an innovative writingrevision mechanismultimately shaping a distinctive model for clinical practice education.

Within one year after its publication, the textbook was adopted by more than ten universities successively, receiving high recognition from peers in the field. Its print run has already exceeded 5,000 copies. Under the strong leadership of the hospital’s Party committeeadministration, the EducationTraining Department has made remarkable progress by actively pursuing innovation in teaching,by strengthening faculty developmentteaching resource construction. As a model within the hospital, the clinical practice teaching team has consistently embraced new educational concepts, promoted teaching reforms,deepened curriculum development. The course Clinical Skills, taught by the teams core members, won second prize in the Hunan Provincial Informatization Teaching Competition, fully demonstrating the courses advancements in digitalinformation-based education. It is reported that the team has recently completed the development of Practical Clinical Skills, an online MOOC complementing the textbook. The course is scheduled to be launched soon on platforms such as ZhihuishuChina University MOOC, making it accessible to medical students across universities nationwide.

As the fundamental basis for educationteaching, textbooks serve as a vital vehicle for addressing the fundamental questions of “what kind of talent to cultivate, how to cultivate it,for whom”. In the future, our hospital will leverage this award as an opportunity to further advance textbook development, curriculum enhancement,program construction. These efforts will support ongoing reforms in talent cultivation models, strengthen faculty development,enhance overall teaching quality, ushering in a new chapter in our commitment to fostering moral integritynurturing well-rounded professionals.
